Penn State University Feature Twirler reigns victorious at the Super Bowl of Baton Twirling

South Bend, IN – On Friday, July 20, 2007 at Notre Dame University, PJ Maierhofer, captured the 2007 Grand National Collegiate Twirling Championship Title.  She displayed pure twirling excitement, athleticism and head on competition against 35 other collegiate contestants.  PJ, a 19 year old - PSU Junior, electrified Judges and the audience with a 1, 2, 3, and 4 baton routine that exhibited what true athletic twirling is all about.  Of course, PJ (Blue Sapphire) represented Penn State proudly by using the PSU fight song and powerful PSU Marching Blue Band theme music.  Some of PJ’s top 10 finalists were from:  Purdue University, Florida State University, North Carolina State University, University of Iowa, University of Washington, University of Mississippi, University of Toledo, University of Kansas, and the University of Virginia.

PJ received a traveling Trophy, scholarship money, a complimentary trip to the US Virgin Islands, a personalized GTM sweat suit, twirling shoes and a traveling duffle bag from Venturelli Shoes, gift certificates from Twirlers Link, Kenerly Kreations Inc., and Sharp Batons and the ultimate claim as the top College Twirler in the United States.  This is the 27th year for the Collegiate Championships but by far the most exciting!
