WANT TO BE A FEATURE TWIRLER AT A PAC-10 UNIVERSITY IN FALL 2008? The University of Washington announces its feature twirler position opening for the fall 2008 football season. Come see what the northwest is all about and perform in front of the 73,000 fans that pack Husky Stadium on Saturday afternoons. Accompany the 240-piece traditional-style Husky Marching Band during pre-game and halftime shows with your outstanding twirling skills!
The UW Athletic Department provides a scholarship of approximately $2,000 per quarter for the student who is in this prestigious position, in addition to batons, warm-ups, uniforms, etc. The feature twirler performs with the band at all home games and travels to many away games. The Husky Band, which is well-respected throughout the nation, has previously appeared at Seahawks games, including the NFC Championship Game of 2006, Sonics games, and was even invited to Japan to perform in the Midousuji Parade and Festival in 2005.
These are only a few of the highlights and perks of being the feature twirler. Fall of 2008 may seem far away, but UW begins auditioning twirlers in fall 2007 in which you may receive tickets to a home football game and watch the current feature twirler, Amy Galbraith, perform at all of the events that you will perform at if you are selected for the following year. Please send a resume outlining baton twirling and academic accomplishments, and a video of recent performances to the address below.
After reviewed, band director Brad McDavid will set up an audition date with you that accomodates your busy schedule sometime between fall 2007 and early spring 2008. Questions? E-mail the director, Dr. J. Brad McDavid, at bmcdavid@u.washington.edu. Go Huskies!! Send resumes and videos to: Dr. J.
