July 18th thru July 22nd, twirlers gathered to compete at the US National Baton Twirling AssociationΓÇÖs (NBTA) national competition held at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana.
The 54th National Majorette Contest highlighted solo one-baton twirling at its finest. Winners included Alyssa Spencer in the Preteen division, Danielle Cobb in the Junior division and Danielle Vanscoyk in the Senior division.
Grand Corps championships, held on Friday afternoon, produced an entertaining show for the twirling enthusiast and common spectator alike.

Modernettes - Grand World Show Corps with Props Champions
The top five teams in the Junior and Senior Advance Dance Twirl and Twirl Team divisions twirled-off on Saturday morning. Royalettes, Daley Debs, Jazz Dolls, Wheaton Majorettes, SueΓÇÖs Stepper-ettes, BethΓÇÖs Batoners, Red Stars, the Dynamics and other teams performed creative and entertaining routines for the crowd to enjoy. Wheaton Majorettes and the Dynamics were the strong finishers in these divisions with stunning performances.
Brooke Walters, the 2005 College Miss Majorette of America, and Karissa Wimberly, the 2005 Teenage Miss Majorette of America, gave their farewell performances at the Big Show closing ceremonies on Saturday night. Crowns were passed on to the 2006 winners; Chelsea Russell of New York was crowned the 2006 Teenage Miss Majorette of America and Katie Noland of the Geneva College was named 2006 College Miss Majorette of America.
