2004 Juvenile Miss Majorette of America - ReJoyce Green

For all she has done, rejoice! Meet 11 year old ReJoyce Green, NBTA's 2004 Juvenile Miss Majorette of America. She was also named Juvenile USA and World Open Solo and Strut Champion.

ReJoyce has been competing and winning beauty pageants since age 3 and baton competitions since age 5. ReJoyce won the Beginner Miss Majorette pageant in 2000 and Intermediate pageant in 2001 at AYOP. She has spent the last 6 months traveling the nation to perform exhibitions as the reigning NBTA Miss Majorette of America in the Juvenile division.

ReJoyce's ultimate goal with her baton twirling career is to earn a college scholarship to be a feature twirler for a major university. To work toward that goal, she dances four days a week taking ballet, point, jazz and pilates. ReJoyce practices 3 days a week in Palm Springs with her baton coach Jerry Alvarez.

ReJoyce is a 6th grade student at Moreno Valley Christian School and has a 4.0 grade point average. ReJoyce's long term goal is to major in broadcast journalism in college and one day be a news reporter on CNN. Watch for her on "America's Most Talented Kids" T.V. show to be aired on May 8th and 13th on PAX TV.

TwirlZone asked ReJoyce to answer the following questions for TZ Readers:

TwirlZone: What is your favorite twirling trick?
ReJoyce: My favorite twirling trick - double illusion catch back hand reverse illusion.

TwirlZone: Of the pageant events, which is your favorite? (solo, strut or modeling?)
ReJoyce: My favorite pageant event - x-strut because I enjoy incorporating my ballet and jazz training into my x-strut. I have fun strutting to the music "Time After Time".

TwirlZone: As mentioned, ReJoyce practices 3 days a week.  How many hours does each baton practice session run?
ReJoyce: My lessons are 3 to 4 hours per lesson. I enjoy having a lemonade icee after my lessons.

TwirlZone: What is the most challenging thing about twirling?
ReJoyce: The most challenging about twirling is learning 3-baton. I plan to compete in 3-baton at AYOP in July.

TwirlZone would like to wish ReJoyce the best of luck in her future goals.
